Seaweed Farming

Seaweed is the source of carrageenan, used for cosmetics, food processing, and various industrial uses. Since it’s a low-cost, high-yield, relatively easy crop to grow, it is an ideal source of income for coastal communities. SPSF is currently sponsoring three seaweed farms benefiting 600 families in five barangays covering over two municipalities, mostly members of the Mulbog and Pala’wan tribes and Muslim groups.
