Mangroves are where the ocean, freshwater and land meet. They protect coasts from storm surges, typhoons, and even tsunamis as well as are home to a large number of animals. Unfortunately, these natural barriers have been depleted through the years because they have been harvested for their wood or through overfishing. SPSF participated by donating funds in a mangrove planting initiative spearheaded by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Taytay in Barangay Caniqui. Thousands of Mangrove seedlings were planted by government employees, members of the Philippine marines, the Philippine National Police, and other stakeholders.
