The pearl is the indicator of the health of the environment. Shaped by outside forces as it grows in the ocean’s depths, upon its surface is recorded every typhoon, dynamite blast, every disruption. Thus, the pearl is only as beautiful as its environment.

Palawan is one of the few places in the world that can grow the rarest of all pearl varieties—the golden South Sea pearl—a true gift from Mother Nature.

I pledge to preserve Mother Nature’s bounty
What she has bestowed upon me
As I live and breathe
Those under my charge
As a steward of Her creation
I pledge to vigilantly do my part
To act responsibly
To protect
To cherish
To inspire
I pledge to create a better world for the next generations
So they would know the smell of fresh air
The sweet taste of clean water
The cool shade of an ancient tree
The awe-inspiring beauty of a fiery sunset
Let the South Sea pearl serve as a reminder, a symbol of this vow
For encapsulated in this miracle of nature is a vision of beauty
Of what could be
and what will be
when I commit myself to life.
